Thoughts on MIT Sloan & MIT CSAIL Artificial Intelligence: Implications for business strategy program

I have just completed the 6 week long course by MIT Sloan & MIT CSAIL Artificial Intelligence: Implications for business strategy program. This executive management and leadership course subtitled as 'to gain the knowledge and confidence to support the integration of AI into your organization.'  The course was a 6-week program focusing on three key AI technologies: machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics. With lectures from luminaries like Tommy Jaakola, Regina Barzilay, and Daniela Rus, the program was divided in following six modules.

  • Module 1: An introduction to artificial intelligence - Learn about the history of AI, its role in collective intelligence, and how to gain strategic advantage.
  • Module 2: Machine learning in business - Explore machine learning and how it can be applied in a business context to gain strategic advantage.
  • Module 3: Natural language processing in business -Explore NLP and how it can be applied in a business context to gain strategic advantage.
  • Module 4: Robotics in business - Explore robotics and how robots can be used in a business context to gain strategic advantage.
  • Module 5: Artificial intelligence in business and society - Consider the merits of the human-machine partnership and any ethical concerns that may arise from the use of AI in an organization.
  • Module 6: The future of artificial intelligence - Develop a roadmap for implementing AI, and consider the future of business with AI technologies.

The course was well designed and executed by the team. In future however, focusing on business case studies, and providing outcome and ROI based concrete would help improve the value proposition for perspective practitioners.
