Microsoft Build Day 1 - AI and Machine Learning Recap

Microsoft Build Day 1 is in the books, and following are the rough notes I jotted down to reminiscent.  Here is my agenda Microsoft Build - Microsoft Build_ My Conference and this is Build Live where you can stream, see announcement and watch the missed sessions.

In a nutshell AI is becoming more democratized, ubiquitous and tooling around AI is becoming more mature. Highlights around Vision, Speech, Language, Conversation. Bing Search. Knowledge capabilities include

  1. Object Detection & Recognition for thousands of objects
  2. Video Indexer preview release
  3. Speech Recognition with customization
  4. Speech Synthesis with customizable voice
  5. Speech to Speech Translation
  6. Text analytics with entity detection
  7. Language Understanding (LUIS) with new integrated offer
  8. QnA Maker is Generally Available
  9. Bing Visual Search with smart identification
  10. 10.Bing Search SDK is Generally Available

The narrative began with AI being the new normal

Followed by AI for every developer and organization

while discussing Microsoft AI breakthroughs.

There are general Azure related key Announcements to keep an eye on, as well as Azure AI Platform announcements: New innovations for developers , highlights around Microsoft Conversational AI tools enable developers to build, connect and manage intelligent bots new and updated Cognitive Services  and last but not least Microsoft Conversational AI tools to build, connect and manage intelligent bots.

Among the important things which came out of the conference included ML.NET which is a cross-platform open-source machine learning framework which makes machine learning accessible to .NET developers.ML.NET allows .NET developers to develop their own models and infuse custom ML into their applications without prior expertise in developing or tuning machine learning models, all in .NET.

Conversational Learner is one of my favs.

The new features and updates were divided into Friendly conversation for all, Cloud and Edge AI Services, Open AI platform and tools, Real Time AI infrastructure and Microsoft Research Labs.

Visual Studio Tools for AI is definitely one of the easiest and well integrated features to Build, test, and deploy deep learning and AI solutions. I mean connecting to Tensor board and visualizing directly from VS.NET, doesn't get any better than that.

Use VS tools for .NET to get started with deep learning using Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (CNTK)Google TensorFlowPyTorchApache MXNetor other frameworks today.

Of course the demo with JFK Files was really good jfkfiles2.azurewebsites.net and custom speech with J Edgar Hoover made it even more interesting.

Don't miss out out on Model Conversion using ONNX which provides interoperation between different AI frameworks through model file conversion https://onnx.ai and also what's new in Azure video processing and video AI

and aka.ms/aml-real-time-ai and aka.ms/amlpackages

Microsoft Program Synthesis using Examples SDK  - https://microsoft.github.io/prose/

and I get to witness this awesomeness with Scott Hanselman and Scott Gutherie

and met some awesome people.

Happy Coding!
